Where is your office located?

My office is located at:

2051 Evergreen Lane, Suite C, Show Low, Az, 85901

I share a waiting room and restroom with another therapist.

There is parking available close to the entrance. The ADA-accessible parking spots are right in front of the entrance.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am currently a provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Cigna, Aetna, and Optum/United Healthcare.  If you’re not sure if I accept your insurance, please give me a call and my billing staff can confirm authorization.

If I am out-of-network, I’m happy to provide you with a superbill – a pre-completed form for you to send to your insurance company. Some insurance companies will reimburse clients for the work we do together.

What are your fee and payment options?
Currently, my fee is $150 for a 50-minute session. I also offer 90-minute sessions at a prorated amount. This rate is the same for individual or couples work.

I offer a Premarital Counseling Package = Five 50-minute sessions for $700, including the fee for the online PREPARE/ENRICH assessment.

Payment is expected at the time of service. I accept cash, checks, or credit/debit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?
Since the appointment time is reserved for you, a minimum of 24-hours’ notice is required for cancellation or rescheduling. A $50 fee will be charged for late cancellations.

If the reason for the late cancellation was reasonable, we can talk about it.

What can I expect in my first session?
First, we’ll get a little better acquainted.

I’ll explain your privacy rights.

I’ll ask you to complete an Intake Form, and I’ll do an initial assessment.

You will have the opportunity to tell me what brings you to therapy.

We will identify your concerns and goals for therapy.

You’ll have a chance to ask any questions you might have for me about myself and the therapy process.

How long are the sessions?
Generally, sessions are 50 minutes long.  However, arrangements can be made for longer sessions, especially when working as a couple.
Do you give assignments?
I may give assignments to supplement the work done in sessions.

Assignments provide an opportunity to practice and reinforce new habits in your daily lives.

How often will I come?
Typically, sessions are weekly.  Initially, or in times of crisis, you may wish to come more frequently.  As your therapeutic work progresses, you may want to increase time between sessions.  It’s up to us.
How long will I be in therapy?
It depends.  It might be short-term or long-term.  Short-term therapy usually involves resolving a particular problem.  Long-term therapy usually involves issues of personal or relationship growth.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
My approach is client-centered, that is, focused on each individual person.

I have a variety of different tools and techniques available to use, depending on the situation.

Techniques I may use:

  • Listening Skills
  • Communication Skills
  • Assertiveness Skills
  • Problem-Solving skills for couples
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Decision-Making skills for individuals
  • Stress Management
  • Anger Management
  • Various Behavioral Therapies
  • Emotional-focused therapy
What age range of clients do you work with?
From late teens, adults, and seniors.
Will you pressure us to stay together?
Whether you stay together is a personal decision that only you and your partner can make.   I can help each of you to be clearer in your reasoning.  I can assist you in learning effective methods of improving your relationship, should you so desire.

If you decide to end your relationship, I am available to support you in your grieving process and transition.

Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?
Everyone in relationship with another human share the same challenges.

I am open to working with any couple, from any background, ethnicity, gender identity, or relationship style.

I open to learning from you how to best support your efforts to improve your relationship.

Do you see the individuals in a couple separately?
My preference is to see you together as a couple for the first session.

Then, it is helpful to schedule one session to see each of you individually to help me understand the situation from each of your points of view.

Then, we will work together as a couple.

I will not do individual therapy with someone who is part of a couple that I am working with. I will provide you with references to other therapists for individual therapy.

Are you a religious person?
I attend church regularly.  Spirituality is important to me.
Are you going to talk about religion?
If religion or spirituality is an issue for you, and if you bring it up, it will be treated like any other important aspects of your life.

I will not impose my own personal beliefs or practices.

I am happy to work with people from any religious tradition, with people who identify as spiritual but not religious, and with people no interest in religion or spirituality.

Do you have a sense of humor?
If something is funny, I’ve been known to laugh out loud.
Do you allow crying in session?
Don’t worry if you cry.  Do it as much as you want. I have plenty of Kleenex.
